Recovery Time after Breast Revision Plastic Surgery | Las VegasRecovery is a vital component of any breast revision cosmetic surgery procedure. The breast surgeon will discuss all aspects of the recovery and informed the estimated recovery time to the patient at the time of initial consultation. This will allow the patient to plan for recovery in advance and apply for leave from their workplace as required.

Dr. Bryson Richards is a board certified plastic surgeon providing breast revision and various other procedures. Dr. Richards will give detailed post-surgical care instructions and help the patient to go through a safer and faster recovery. Patients in Las Vegas, NV and surrounding communities have an opportunity to receive breast revision surgery from Dr. Richards.

Estimated Downtime

The patient should be prepared to go through a certain amount of downtime following breast revision plastic surgery. Revision procedures are less common in case of breast lift or breast reduction, but if a revision is necessary, it may involve a downtime of a week to 10 days in these procedures. In many cases, the downtime involved in these revision procedures may be more than what they had to undergo during the primary surgery.

In case of breast augmentation revision surgery, the downtime will depend on whether the procedure involves breast implant replacement or removal. In case of replacement, the procedure is usually simpler, and may only involve a downtime of five to seven days. However, in case of breast implant removal, the downtime may be about 10 to 14 days because the procedure is usually accompanied by breast lift surgery.

In any case, the downtime as well as the overall recovery period will vary from one patient to another depending on the size of breasts, the type of surgical technique used, the size of implants, the extent of revision required, the patient’s natural ability to heal, and how diligently she follows the surgeon’s recovery instructions.

Guidelines for a Speedy Recovery

Following breast revision surgery, the patient should take plenty of rest during the first week and stay hydrated. Short walks in the home are encouraged in this period to promote blood flow and expedite healing. Vigorous activities that put a strain on the incisions, heavy weight lifting, and excessive bending should be avoided for at least two to three weeks.

The patient should strictly adhere to the instructions of the cosmetic surgeon regarding refraining from smoking and avoiding certain medications, herbal supplements and vitamins even after the surgery. Smoking can interfere with the healing process and create complications. The incision areas should be kept clean and free of contact as far as possible to minimize the risk of infection.

In the first two to three days after the surgery, cold compresses should be applied over the incisions. This will help to reduce swelling. The patient should sleep on her back in a slightly elevated position to mitigate the pressure on the breasts. Post-surgical diet should be rich in lean proteins, which will support faster tissue healing. Dr. Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV and nearby areas for breast revision surgery.

Breast Revision Plastic Surgery Cost | Las Vegas Plastic SurgeryBreast revision may have to be performed in a situation where the patient is not satisfied with the results of the primary breast cosmetic surgery, or specifically in case of breast augmentation, the implants have developed a complication.

During the initial consultation, the breast surgeon will discuss all aspects of the revision procedure, including its estimated costs. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides breast revision procedures to patients in Las Vegas, NV and surrounding communities.

Price Variations

Breast revision plastic surgery may be required for any breast procedure such as breast augmentation, breast lift or breast reduction. The cost of surgery will vary in each case, depending on the length and complexity of the procedure. While complications are rare in case of breast lift or breast reduction, a patient may require revision if she is unhappy with the results.

The monetary amount of revision surgery in these procedures may be higher than that of primary surgery because revisions are usually more complex. If the primary surgery was incorrect due to the surgeon’s error, they may perform the revision procedure for free, depending on their policy for revision surgeries.

The dollar figure of revision surgery in case of breast augmentation will vary according to the patient’s decision to choose implant removal or replacement. Implant removal surgery will usually involve breast lift as an additional procedure, which will have additional costs. In case of implant replacement, the procedure will be simpler but will have the additional costs of new implants.

Implant financial factors in case of revision breast augmentation procedures may be covered under the warranty program offered by the implant manufacturer. Dr. Richards is an experienced cosmetic surgeon receiving patients from Las Vegas, NV and nearby areas for breast revision procedures.

Other Price Factors

The monetary amount of breast revision surgery can vary from one practice to another depending on where the practice is located. Prime urban centers, popular tourist destinations, and cities along the coasts will typically have higher real estate costs and other living costs. Therefore, the average costs of goods and services, including cosmetic procedures, will generally be higher in these locations.

If the breast revision procedure is performed using general anesthesia, the fee charged by an anesthesiologist or a registered anesthetist nurse, will vary according to their qualifications and experience. The procedure may be performed at a hospital, accredited surgical center or a private surgical suite. The costs and benefits will differ in each case.

Patients should also account for pre- and post-operative expenses such as medical tests, specialized mammograms, prescription drugs, surgical bra, and post-surgical appointments with the surgeon. These minor costs can add up to a significant amount, and should be included in the breast revision cost estimate.

Insurance and Financing

Insurance coverage will rarely be available for breast revision because the primary breast cosmetic surgery is an elective procedure. However, patients can explore various financing options such as low interest loans from professional medical care financing firms, bank loans, credit cards, and borrowings from family and friends.

Breast Augmentation Revision Surgery | Las Vegas Plastic Surgery

Breast augmentation revision surgery is designed to replace or remove breast implants to treat any complications that may have arisen following the primary breast enhancement cosmetic surgery procedure. Capsular contracture is a major cause of complications, which usually requires breast revision to remove or replace distorted, damaged, malpositioned, or leaking implants.

In many cases, breast revision surgery will be more complicated than the primary procedure. Implant removal, in particular, may have to be accompanied by breast lift surgery to restore youthful looking breasts. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides breast augmentation revision to patients in Las Vegas, NV and surrounding communities.

Removal of Saline Implants

In breast augmentation revision plastic surgery, the patient will usually have a choice to remove the implants or replace them with new ones. In case of saline implant removal, the surgeon will first deflate the implant before removing it. Saline solution is harmless to the body, which allows the surgeon to perform this technique for less invasive implant removal.

Scar tissue will usually be removed along with the implant. Insertion of new implants or a breast lift surgery will be performed at the same time once the original implants have been taken out. Revision surgery may be performed using general anesthesia or IV sedation, and may take about one hour to complete.

Removal of Silicone Implants

The cosmetic surgeon will examine the silicone implant for any signs of damage prior to its removal. The goal is to prevent leakage of silicone gel and minimize the risk. If the implants textured, their removal may be a little more complicated. In some cases, the surrounding muscle and tissue may have to be removed along with the implant.

Scar revision, breast lift or implant replacement procedures will be performed at the same time following the primary implant removal. The length of the procedure may vary according to the type of procedures performed. Dr. Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV and nearby areas for silicone implants.

Replacement of Implants

Breast implant replacement is quite similar to the primary breast augmentation surgery. Implant replacement options will be evaluated after taking into account the type of complications that the original implants may have caused. The original implant size, shape, texture, or positioning of the implants may have contributed to the complications.

The surgeon will prepare a breast implant replacement plan after reviewing all aspects. If the patient was unsatisfied with the aesthetic outcome of the original implants, the surgeon will usually recommend a different type and size of implant for the replacement surgery. The patient should consider the pros and cons of each implant option and also look at the latest ultra-cohesive silicone implant options.

Recovery

Recovery will be simpler and faster in case of implant replacement where the original incisions are used to replace similar type and size of implants. Implant removal may involve a slightly longer downtime because it may have to be combined with breast lift surgery. Most women can expect to resume their normal activities in one to two weeks after the revision surgery.

Your Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Consultation | Las VegasPrior to eyelid cosmetic surgery, the patient is like to have several questions for which they seek clear answers. The surgeon will address these questions, doubts and concerns during the pre-operative consultation to help the patient make a well-informed decision.

It may be a good idea to prepare a checklist of questions in advance. This will ensure that the patient does not forget to ask any question during their pre-op consultation with the patient. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides blepharoplasty to patients in Las Vegas, NV and surrounding locations.

Checklist of Questions

The patient’s list of questions to ask during the pre-operative consultation for eyelid plastic surgery may include the following:

  • Are you a board certified plastic surgeon?
  • How many years of training and experience in surgical procedures do you have?
  • Have you performed eyelid surgery before, and what has been success rate?
  • What are the cosmetic improvements I can expect after blepharoplasty?
  • Will the surgery be performed using local or general anesthesia?
  • Am I a candidate for upper or lower blepharoplasty or both?
  • Are there any less invasive treatment options to rejuvenate the eyelids?
  • Are there any risks and complications that I should know of?
  • Can you provide me with a video of the procedure or some reading material or published papers related to this surgery?
  • Can you provide with patient testimonials of individuals who have undergone this procedure previously?
  • Will I be provided with eyelid surgery before and after photos?
  • Are there any preparations that I am expected to do before the facelift?
  • Will the procedure involve significant pain?
  • For how many years the effects of blepharoplasty will sustain?
  • Do you have a policy regarding revision surgery?
  • If some people in my family have puffy eyelids, is there a chance that I may get the same?
  • Are there any medical conditions that could rule out my candidacy for blepharoplasty.
  • How long it will take to perform the procedure?
  • How much will be the estimated downtime following the surgery?
  • Where will you perform the surgery? Will be an accredited surgical center?
  • If the surgery is performed at a hospital, can I choose the hospital?
  • Do you have staff privileges at one or more local hospitals?
  • What will be the estimated cost of eyelid surgery?

A dedicated cosmetic surgeon will try to address these questions transparently and accurately. Some surgeons will answer most of these questions on their own even before the patient begins with their list of queries. Dr. Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV and nearby areas.

Preparing for Facelift Plastic Surgery | Las Vegas Cosmetic SurgeryA sterling preparation for facelift cosmetic surgery will help to keep the patient healthy and relaxed before, during, and after the procedure. Preparation starts at the time of pre-operative consultation. Patients who are well-prepared for the facelift surgery will usually achieve safer and more desirable outcomes.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides facelift to patients in Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and surrounding locations.

Tobacco and Blood Thinners

At least two to three weeks prior to facelift plastic surgery, the patient will have to stop the use of tobacco in any form. The habit of smoking prevents oxygen from flowing freely in the blood, which can delay healing and increase the risk of surgical complications.

Blood thinning medications, vitamin E and herbal supplements will also have to be stopped. The schedule of any prescribed drugs may have to be altered in consultation with the physician.

Practical Arrangements

Working people should apply for about one to two weeks leave from work to allow for safe healing at home after facelift surgery. Even non-working patients should start mentally preparing for the downtime. Arrangements for transportation from the surgical facility to home as well as after-care should be made well in advance.

Any major household chores should be completed before the surgery so that the patient is under minimal stress during the post-operative phase. The patient may consider preparing a ‘recovery kit’ that can include various handy items that may be needed during the initial downtime period. These may include:

  • Prescription medications and antibiotics
  • Over the counter pain meds
  • Bandages
  • Several pillows to keep the head elevated
  • Button-down garments that do not require going overhead
  • Favorite movie DVDs and music CDs

The Day before Surgery

The patient should have a thoroughly wash the hair on the day prior to the facelift surgery. This will help to reduce the risk of infection during the procedure. Alcohol must not be consumed at least one night prior to the surgery. The patient should make sure to rest sufficiently and have a good night’s sleep so that they are well-rested during the procedure.

The Day of Surgery

The patient may be administered some medication to relieve their anxiety on the morning of the surgery. Antibiotic regimen may also be started prior to the surgery. The procedure can take between two and four hours, so the patient and their attendant should have an idea of how long it may continue.

Once the procedure is over, the patient will be moved to an observation area for a few hours before they can return home. Before leaving, the surgeon will usually provide a detailed list of recovery instructions along with the date of first post-op appointment.

Transport and Aftercare

The patient should have someone to drive them back home after the surgery. For the first few days following the surgery, having some to help with daily chores can make the recovery easier. Experienced cosmetic surgeon Dr. Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and nearby areas for facelift.

Discuss During Your Facelift Consultation | Las Vegas Plastic SurgeryWhen an individual chooses a surgeon for facelift cosmetic surgery, they will go through a process of detailed consultation.

This consultation is a vital component of the procedure, and the surgical planning will be based primarily on the outcome of this component. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides facelift to patients in Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and surrounding locations.

Determining Candidacy

The first step of the consultation process will be to determine whether or not the patient is a good candidate for facelift plastic surgery. The patient’s medical history, degree of skin laxity and skin type, and her goals for treatment will be carefully assessed. The patient should be forthright with the surgeon about all aspects, especially regarding medical history and the use of tobacco and alcohol.

Discussing about Health

If the patient suffers from any pre-existing health conditions such as an autoimmune disorder, obesity or a skin disease, the surgeon will carefully consider whether they are fit to go through a traditional facelift procedure. If any existing medical condition may interfere with the surgery or hamper the recovery, it may not be worth the risk to have a cosmetic treatment such as facelift.

The surgeon will learn more about the patient through their health history, current or recent medications, and previous surgeries, if any. A few medical tests may be ordered, if required, to ensure candidacy. Based on the patient’s age, body weight, facial structure, skin type and skin laxity, the surgeon may recommend facelift as an independent procedure or in combination with another procedure.

Discussing Personal Goals

The patient should freely discuss their innate aesthetic needs and goals during the facelift consultation. Some patients may want to take several years off the face and create a dramatically younger look for both the face and the neck. On the other hand, some other patients may only want a subtle lift to the face or a maintenance procedure to prevent the onset of conspicuous aging.

The surgeon must have a clear idea of what the patient truly wants from the procedure. That will help them to create a delicate balance between the patient’s goals and their natural facial anatomy and structure. Highest patient satisfaction levels are usually achieved when the patient engages in free and frank communication with the surgeon. Dr. Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and nearby areas.

Discussing other Concerns

The patient should frankly discuss with the surgeon about all the doubts and concerns that they may have about the procedure, the estimated costs, the surgeon’s credentials, and the surgeon’s practice. A committed surgeon will address all these concerns in a detailed and accurate manner. They will help the patient to make a well-considered decision about facelift surgery.

During the initial consultation, the patient should also request for facelift surgery before and after images and testimonials of previous patients who have received facelift. This will make them more assured about the procedure and will allow them to have realistic expectations from it.

Eyelid Surgery Blepharoplasty Steps | Las Vegas Plastic SurgeryBlepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to rejuvenate the area around the eyelids and restore alert, youthful appearance to the eyes. The procedure involves a number of steps, which can slightly vary depending on the correction required in upper, lower, or both eyelids.

Dr. Bryson Richards is a board certified plastic surgeon providing eyelid surgery and various other surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures. Dr. Richards will discuss the procedure steps during the pre-op consultation and address any concerns and doubts of the patient in detail. He provides blepharoplasty to patients in Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and surrounding locations.

Administering Anesthesia

Although eyelid lift plastic surgery is generally performed using local anesthesia and IV sedation, sometimes general anesthesia may be chosen, depending on the extent of surgery or the patient’s anxiety levels. In either case, the patient will be unconscious and fully comfortable while the procedure is performed.

Depending on the circumstances, an anesthesiologist or a certified anesthetist nurse will remain present throughout the procedure to monitor the patient. The decision about general anesthesia will be taken only after careful evaluation of the patient’s health history and current medical condition.

Lower Blepharoplasty

Lower eyelid surgery will involve small incisions placed in discreet locations to keep the scarring less conspicuous. Natural skin creases underneath the lower eyelashes may be used to create tiny incisions that will heal well and remain hidden. Loose skin and excess fat will be removed through the incisions. Underlying muscles may also be tightened in some cases.

If hollows exist under the lower eyelids, dermal filler injections or fat transfer procedure may be used to create a more even look. Once the procedure is completed, the surgeon will close the incisions with fine sutures.

Upper Blepharoplasty

Upper eyelid surgery will involve the creation of tiny incisions in the natural upper lid creases. Through the incisions, the surgeon will excise loose skin to correct the droopy upper lid appearance. This will also improve any partial vision obstruction. In some patients, the underlying weak muscles may also be tightened.

As the loose skin is trimmed away, the remainder skin will be lifted and reattached for a smoother, tighter upper lid appearance. The incisions will be closed with sutures following the procedure. Experienced plastic surgeon Dr. Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and nearby areas for blepharoplasty.

Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty

If the only problem is with the excess fat tissue around the eyelids, but the eyelid skin is reasonably elastic and smooth, a transconjunctival eyelid surgery may be performed. This is a less invasive surgery, which is more appropriate for patients who do not have very prominent under eye bags.

In this procedure, the surgeon will place multiple tiny incisions inside the lower eyelid after administering anesthesia. Excess fat tissue will be removed or redistributed through the incisions. No skin removal or muscle tightening will be performed in this procedure. This technique does not create visible scarring because the incisions are placed inside the eyelid.

Facelift Risks and Safety Information | Las Vegas Plastic SurgeryOver the years, facelift cosmetic surgery has become much safer with a very high success rate. However, like any other surgical procedures, certain risks will still be inherent to facelift surgery. The patient should have full awareness about the potential risks and complications in order to make a well-considered decision.

Dr. Bryson Richards is a board certified plastic surgeon providing facelift and various other procedures for the face, body and breasts. Dr. Richards will ensure that the patient is properly educated about the procedure and its potential risks during the pre-operative consultation. He provides facelift to patients in Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and surrounding locations.

Facelift Risks

Potential risks involved in facelift plastic surgery include:

Poor Anesthesia Reaction

Although anesthesia has become an extremely safe procedure nowadays, but in rare cases, general anesthesia can still pose problems. A patient with a pre-existing medical condition may be at a higher risk of adverse anesthesia reaction. An experienced surgeon and anesthesiologist will usually manage to anticipate the reaction and minimize the risk.

Infection

Any surgical procedure entails some degree of infection risk. If the surgical center adheres to high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, the risk can be mitigated. The surgeon may also prescribe antibiotics and place drain tubes to collect excess fluid during early recovery phase. These steps can help to minimize the risk of infection.

Hematoma

Following facelift surgery, if the bleeding occurs beneath the skin, it can create swelling, pain and discoloration. Extreme hematoma cases may have to be addressed surgically. The risk of hematoma can be minimized by placing drain tubes below the skin for a few days to collect excess fluid.

Damage to Facial Nerves

In a rare situation, a cut or nick may occur in a facial nerve during facelift surgery. This can result in facial paralysis or numbness in the affected area. However, the damage is usually not permanent. A skilled cosmetic surgeon will be able to minimize this risk by keeping a conservative approach to facelift.

Visible Scarring

Although some degree of scarring is unavoidable after facelift surgery, it is possible to conceal most of the scars in discreet locations. A few minor marks may be visible in some cases if they are not correctly hidden in the hair or behind the ear. Dr. Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and nearby areas for facelift surgery.

Minimizing the Risk

An experience surgeon will strive to maintain a delicate balance between meeting the patient’s aesthetic goals and keeping a safe and conservative surgical approach. During the pre-op consultations, there should clear communication between the surgeon and the patient about all aspects.

The patient should be forthcoming about their medical history, current medications, and habits of smoking or drinking. Such information will enable the surgeon to make the right decisions about the extent of facelift surgery. The patient should be prepared to follow the surgeon’s pre- and post-operative instructions diligently in order to minimize the risk.

Facelift Plastic Surgery Procedure Steps | Las Vegas Plastic SurgeryFacelift is one of the popular cosmetic surgery procedures to take several years off the face and make the face appear tighter, smoother, and rejuvenated. The patient should be aware of what to expect during the facelift procedure in order to make an informed choice. While facelift techniques may vary, the procedure steps largely remain the same.

Dr. Bryson Richards is a board certified plastic surgeon providing facelift and various other surgical and non-surgical procedures. Dr. Richards will familiarize the patient with the procedure during the pre-operative consultation and put them at ease about the surgery. He provides facelift to patients in Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and surrounding locations.

Anesthesia

The first important step in the operating room for facelift plastic surgery procedure is to place the patient under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation, as per the surgical plan. The patient will be in deep sleep under either option, and will remain completely comfortable throughout the surgery.

The anesthesiologist or a certified anesthetist nurse may be present throughout the surgery to monitor the patient’s response to anesthesia. General anesthesia is more complicated, but may be recommended particularly in case of a full traditional facelift surgery.

Incision Placement

Once the patient has been anesthetized, the surgeon will begin the procedure by placing careful incisions. The incisions will be located as discreetly as possible to conceal the subsequent scars. In many cases, the major incision will be placed above the hairline to minimize scarring visibility.

Any other facial incisions may be placed in the natural facial creases. Healing is decent in these areas and scars are hidden well. In a full facelift, the incision typically starts from behind the hairline on one side of the head, a little above the temple. It then follows the hairline down to the ear to end in the lower scalp under the hair.

Trimming Loose Skin and Tightening Muscles

The cosmetic surgeon will lift the facial skin from the underlying tissue through the incisions. Excess skin will be trimmed away, extra fat will be removed or redistributed, and underlying muscles will be tightened to enhance the contours. Once the surgery is over, the skin will be re-draped smoothly and tightly and held together with staples or sutures.

The incision area will finally be wrapped with a bandage. The patient will be taken to an observation area to allow them to recover from the immediate effects of anesthesia and surgery. Dr. Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and nearby areas for facelift.

Facelift with Other Procedures

In some cases, the patient and surgeon may decide to have facelift in conjunction with other surgical or non-surgical procedures. Neck lift, liposuction and upper face procedures such as forehead lift or eyelid lift are commonly performed along with facelift surgery. The procedural steps will be altered to some extent when one or more procedures are combined with facelift surgery. The overall results can be more harmonious with such a comprehensive surgical approach.

Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery Recovery Time |Las Vegas Plastic SurgeryBlepharoplasty or eyelid lift cosmetic surgery is a sensitive procedure, which should only be performed by a qualified surgeon. The surgeon will explain to the patient not only what to expect during the procedure, but also what to expect after the surgery. Like any surgical procedure, blepharoplasty will involve a period of recovery.

Dr. Bryson Richards is a board certified plastic surgeon providing eyelid surgery and various other procedures for the breast, body, and face. During the pre-op consultation, Dr. Richards will address all aspects of the procedure, including estimated recovery. He provides blepharoplasty to patients in Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and surrounding locations.

Estimated Time for Recovery

Eyelid lift plastic surgery is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, but in a few cases, an overnight stay at the hospital may be required. The appropriate environment for immediate recovery will be determined by the preferences of both the surgeon and the patient. The patient should be prepared to undergo a downtime of about one week after eyelid surgery.

Within a week, most patients will be ready to resume their daily routine or return to their workplace. However, the complete recovery from eyelid surgery usually takes several weeks. Within two to five days, the sutures will be removed. The patient should give plenty of rest to the eyes during this early phase. Swelling and redness will be pronounced in the first week, but will progressively fade from the second week.

If the patient exerts the eyes with reading or watching TV in the early recovery phase, it can increase blood flow to the eyes and create complications or delay full recovery. The initial recovery phase may seem long or tiresome for the patient, but as the swelling and bruising gets resolved, they will begin to notice a welcome change in their facial appearance.

As the full results of eyelid surgery set in, the eyes will start looking more youthful and alert. It will make the patient cheerful and self-confident about their renewed upper facial look. Experienced cosmetic surgeon Dr. Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Pahrump, Mesquite NV, and nearby areas for blepharoplasty.

Temporary Side Effects

The initial side effects of eyelid surgery may include swelling and redness around the incision areas. Mild soreness, dryness, and itching in these areas may occur, and the eyes may tear excessively. These issues can be addressed with an ointment that the surgeon may prescribe.

Temporary blurred vision may also occur as one of the temporary side effects, and the patient may initially feel sensitivity to light. These effects will resolve quickly on their own as long as the patient follows the surgeon’s recovery instructions with diligence.

Aftercare

In addition to the ointment prescribed by the surgeon, the patient may also use over the counter pain medications for a few days to be more comfortable. Cold compresses may be placed over the eyes in the first few days to reduce swelling. The surgeon may also prescribe eye drops to prevent dry eye. Protection from sun and wind should be ensured for the eyes in the first few weeks.
