Non-Surgical Facelift

An increasing number of people are realizing the benefits of attaining a non-surgical facelift. This procedure can do wonders on people that want to look rested and youthful without undergoing the knife. The only drawback is that the results of this treatment tend to wear off because it is non-invasive.

During your pre-op consultation, your treatment provider will explain what is involved in a non-surgical facelift and the amount of time you can expect the results to last. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides non-surgical facelift treatments to patients in Las Vegas, NV, and surrounding locations.

What Does Non-Surgical Facelift Involve?

Your cosmetic surgeon may recommend this procedure for you if you want to do something about your small lines, wrinkles, or crow’s feet without getting a full facelift. You should understand that the right treatment can go a long way in “erasing” small lines and creases. Hence, it is important that you always get this treatment at the hands of a professional and trained plastic surgeon.

You don’t need to undergo an invasive plastic surgery when you have injectables that can get you the same kinds of results. These are a few injectable treatments used during non-surgical facelifts:

Botox

This is a common treatment for reducing wrinkles. Botox helps in paralyzing muscles responsible for skin contraction. However, effects are only temporary.

Restylane

This is a popular dermal filler injection which is helpful in reducing wrinkles. It can also be used for enhancing lips.

Kybella

This is a uniquely innovative, FDA approved injectable product helpful in reducing double chin.

Juvederm

This dermal filler has received FDA approval for cosmetic reduction of facial wrinkles. It is also useful on various types of scars.

Sculptra

Sculptra injectables are used to activate and stimulate production of collagen naturally in the body.

There are several other injectables that your doctor may prescribe, such as Artefill, Belotero, Radiesse, and others.

Common Treatment Areas

Non-surgical facelift can target the following areas:

  • Cheeks
  • Temples
  • Eyebrows and forehead
  • Corners of the mouth
  • Lips
  • Nasolabial folds

How Long Do Results Last?

This depends on the type and quality of products chosen for the procedure. You need to understand that non-surgical facelift doesn’t bring the same results as a cosmetic surgery. All injectables are slowly but surely eliminated by the body overtime. Your results may last anywhere from 3 to 12 months depending on the injectable used.

Results tend to last longer if the product is comprised of hyaluronic acid (HA). This is because HA is a naturally occurring substance in the body and doesn’t get eliminated quickly. Results are shorter for animal-based substances. This is how long different injectable products last:

  • Botox can last for about 4 months
  • Restylane usually gets removed after 9 months
  • Juvederm will continue to offer results for up to 12 months
  • Kybella injections are usually permanent
  • Sculptra may last for two years

You can always get touch-ups or repeat treatments to enjoy long lasting benefits. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV, and nearby areas for non-surgical facelift procedures.

Dermabrasion vs. Microdermabrasion

Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion are two highly sought after cosmetic procedures. These may be more effective than filler injections, skin peels, and laser cosmetic surgery for some patients to rejuvenate facial skin. Your plastic surgeon will create micro-wounds in the skin in a controlled manner using an abrasion tool in dermabrasion. This will result in a noticeable change in the appearance of your skin. The procedure works well on scarred and aging skin.

Your cosmetic surgeon may recommend dermabrasion only for your face. However, it can be performed on other parts of the body as well. It is important that you get this advanced procedure performed by a trained and qualified professional.

Microdermabrasion, on the other hand, is a skin rejuvenation technique. This usually involves an abrasive tool or a vacuum suction to remove the topmost layer of the skin. Anesthesia or sedatives are not required in microdermabrasion. This is because the painless procedure doesn’t involve penetrating deeper skin layers.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides dermabrasion and microdermabrasion treatments to patients in Las Vegas, NV, and surrounding communities.

Ideal Candidate for Dermabrasion and Microdermabrasion

Dermabrasion tends to create wounds by working on deeper skin layers. New skin that comes upon wound healing is of a better quality. Your surgeon may recommend this procedure if you want to remove or reduce scars from acne or trauma, wrinkles, enlarged and red nose (rhinophyma), tattoos, and actinic keratosis.

Conversely, microdermabrasion works on the most superficial skin layer called the stratum corneum. This layer contains dead cells making the non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedure safe for the most sensitive skins. However, microdermabrasion is not recommended for people that have active skin diseases, infections, or acne.

What Is Involved in the Procedures?

Your cosmetic surgeon will administer local anesthesia before performing dermabrasion. They will apply an abrasive device on the targeted area once your skin is numb. The abrasive tool has a rotating wire wheel or brush that is encrusted with an abrasive screen or crystals.

Depending on the skin area, the surgeon will choose the type of dermabrasion device to use. They may prevent the skin from moving during the treatment by spraying a refrigerant. The skill and expertise of a surgeon plays a large role in determining results.

The surgeon will forcefully spray an inert crystalline material on the skin during microdermabrasion. In some cases, microdermabrasion also involves forceful rubbing of the skin using a crystal impregnated wand. This is done to exfoliate the topmost skin layer without penetrating the deeper layers. You may experience inflammation, but the swelling is only temporary.

Duration and Process of Recovery

Dermabrasion wounds need to be daily treated with moist dressings. Healing can take anywhere from 7 – 10 days. Redness will remain till about 6 weeks in case of dermabrasion. Microdermabrasion, on the other hand, does not cause any wounds or post-operative care. Swelling and redness are mild, lasting only for a short while.

Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV, and nearby areas for dermabrasion and microdermabrasion skin care procedures.

BAM

Cosmetic surgery procedures such as breast augmentation mastopexy have vastly improved with the rapid strides made in healthcare and surgical technology. The current procedures are less invasive and more effective in nature. The amount of time taken for one to bounce back depends on their capability to follow post-operative care instructions laid down by their cosmetic surgeon.

The expertise of the breast surgeon you choose plays a major role on the recovery as well. During your initial consultation, your provider will create a customized treatment plan for breast enhancement. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides breast augmentation mastopexy to patients in Las Vegas, NV, and surrounding locations.

Expected Recovery after Breast Augmentation Mastopexy

It’s crucial that you get adequate rest for the first few days after your breast augmentation mastopexy procedure. You should consider staying at home for a minimum period of seven days for quick healing. Most cosmetic surgeons recommend light physical activity after the first three days. This helps in improving blood flow and ensuring a quicker recovery.

However, it’s pivotal that you don’t overdo any physical activity after your plastic surgery. Try avoiding strenuous activities, such as lifting heavy objects, running after a pet, playing softball or volleyball, and so on. This may put a strain on your incisions. You may undertake vigorous activities after about a month of the surgery.

The extent of surgery plays a major role in determining the time taken for recovery. Women with general good health should be able to resume their work after about 1 to 2 weeks of getting a breast augmentation mastopexy.

Special Post-operative Garments are Crucial

Your surgeon will recommend the use of a special surgical bra. You should wear this following the surgery to improve your recovery and results. Surgical bras are especially important if your implants were placed underneath the chest muscles. You should wear the bra for several weeks at all times, except when taking a bath.

Once the surgeon allows you to remove the surgical bra, you should consider wearing a sports bra to provide your breasts adequate support. A few cosmetic surgeons recommend using wrap-type bandages to make it easy for breast implants to harmonize with breast muscle and tissue. This bandage helps in providing additional support and makes sure that your breasts naturally adapt to the given new shape.

Avoid Tobacco Products

You should quit smoking and consuming tobacco products in any form after getting a breast augmentation mastopexy. This is to prevent your blood vessels from shrinking during post-operative period. Shrunken blood vessels don’t allow for regular oxygen flow. Also, nicotine interferes with red blood cell activity. These factors can significantly add to the recovery time and increase the risk of complications.

Managing Pain during Recovery

Your surgeon will prescribe painkillers for you to deal with bruising and pain following the plastic surgery. The prescription medicines will also help with swelling and mild soreness. It’s vital that you refrain from performing activities that require complete attention, such as driving while on these medications. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV, and nearby areas for breast augmentation mastopexy.
