Nipple Plastic Surgery

Women often fret over the appearance of their breasts, wondering if they are the right size and shape. Sometimes, it is the appearance of the areolas and nipples that is the source of worry. While there is no right and wrong shape and size for breasts, nipples and areolas, areola reduction surgery can certainly help you achieve the look you want.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides nipple and areola reduction surgery to patients in Las Vegas, NV, and surrounding locations.

Who is a Candidate for Areola Reduction Surgery

The size and shape of your areolas is often determined by genetics. However, it may change with age or due to weight gain, or following pregnancy and breast feeding. In most of these situations, the change is caused by a loss of skin elasticity that makes it sag. This is not a medical issue but may be a cosmetic one.

If you are unhappy with the shape and size of your areolas or nipples, areola reduction cosmetic surgery can help you gain the exact appearance you desire. It may also be combined with other cosmetic breast surgery techniques such as breast lift or augmentation or breast reduction surgery for best results.

About Areola Surgery

Areola reduction plastic surgery is a procedure used to decrease the size of the areola which is the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple. It is also useful to deal with puffy or prominent nipples. The surgery itself takes around 1 to 2 hours and the difference in shape and size of the areola is visible soon after.

What the Procedure Involves

Areola reduction procedure is performed at the doctor’s office or clinic or in a hospital on an outpatient basis. A tiny incision is made around the nipple, a little of the dark part of the areola is removed and the cut is then closed with dissolvable sutures. Overnight stay in the hospital is not necessary, and after the anesthetic effect wears off, you will be sent home. You have to see the surgeon after one week for a follow-up.

Post-Surgical Care

Your surgeon will advise the following after areola reduction surgery for a safe and quick recovery:

  • Use an ice compress to reduce swelling of the breast.
  • Avoid reaching above your head and bending over for the first few days after surgery.
  • Do not lift things weighing more than 1 kg during this recovery period.
  • Wear a support bra for at least 3 weeks after the surgery to support the breasts and avoid discomfort or soreness.

Within a few days of the surgery, you can have a shower and get back to your routine level of activity. Changes in the size and shape of the areola will be visible soon after the surgery.

Over time, the minor scar left at the site of the incision will also fade away, leaving you with the perfect breast appearance you desire. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV, and nearby areas for nipple and areola reduction surgery.

Surgical and Non-surgical Options to Build a Strong Jaw Line

Attractiveness in both men and women depends to a large extent on the harmony in their facial features. A defined jaw line structure contributes significantly to the overall impression of the face. If you have a chin that is weak or recessed, an expert plastic surgeon can fit you with a customized chin implant to improve your appearance.

Genioplasty is the technique in which surgery is performed on the chin to improve neck, chin and jawline contours. This chin enhancement surgery involves placing an implant around your present chin bone to change the size and shape of the chin. When a skilled cosmetic surgeon performs this procedure, it lends a well-defined structure to a weak or recessed chin to make the face more attractive.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides chin and jawline enhancement procedures to patients in Las Vegas, NV, and surrounding locations.

Why Get a Chin Implant?

Chin implant plastic surgery that corrects a weak or recessed chin can make you more confident about your looks. Chin augmentation helps to:

  • Correct weakness in the chin
  • Enhance facial harmony by making the chin proportionate to your other facial features
  • Change the appearance of a “double” chin that is caused when your chin bone is very small
  • Lend greater definition to the jawline and neck

How Does a Chin Implant Look?

Chin implants are small devices made out of a biocompatible solid material such as silicone. They are designed to fit snug around your chin bone. The implants come in different sizes and contours to give your plastic surgeon a good choice of finding the one that will give you the most natural looking chin.

If the chin implant surgery is done by a skilled surgeon, the results will be most natural, and no one can tell that you have undergone the procedure.

What You Must Know About Chin Implant Surgery

Chin implant surgery is generally performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. The surgeon first makes a tiny cut below the chin or within the mouth. Then, he fits the chin implant through this incision and places it around the chin bone.

After the surgery, sutures are used to close the cut, and the chin is bandaged. Chin implant surgery generally requires less than an hour to complete. The time may be greater if you are simultaneously undergoing other cosmetic procedures.

Recovering From Chin Implant Surgery

The little discomfort following the chin implant surgery is easy to control using a cold compress or pain medication. For the first two weeks after surgery, you must sleep only face-up and with your head elevated. This will help protect the incisions made during the surgery and also prevent post-operative swelling.

Most persons who undergo chin augmentation surgery experience very less downtime and can get back to their daily routine within a week’s time. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV, and nearby areas for chin and jawline augmentation.

Breast Implant Replacement

Most women will have their breast implants last for a very long time without any complications. New implant qualities are highly resilient and manufacturers usually offer a lifetime warranty on the implants. However, patients should know that despite the warranty, their breast augmentation results may not last a lifetime.

You should expect that you may have to remove or replace your breast implants at least once in your lifetime. About a decade ago, an FDA report estimated that about 20 percent of women with implants would have to undergo a revision cosmetic surgery within 10 years of their initial implantation.

This number is likely to have gone down further in the last decade, considering the rapid improvements in surgical techniques and breast implant qualities. As long as your primary breast augmentation procedure has been performed correctly, chances are that you can enjoy the results for at least 10 to 20 years without any trouble.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides cosmetic and reconstructive procedures to patients in Las Vegas, NV, and surrounding locations.

When Do You Need Breast Implant Removal or Replacement?

Here are a few possible reasons why you may need to undergo a breast implant removal or replacement plastic surgery at some future date.

You are Unhappy with the Implant Size

After your breast implant surgery, you might realize at some point in the future that you are dissatisfied with your overall breast appearance because the implants are either too small or too large for your liking. If you have a change of aesthetic preferences, you may choose to have your implants removed or replaced any time.

Capsular Contracture

The natural healing reaction of your body following the insertion of implants at the time of breast augmentation will result in the formation of a protective scar tissue or capsule around the implants. In a few cases, this scar tissue may thicken or harden, causing tightness or pain in your breasts.

In some patients, this condition may also lead to the implant losing its shape or moving from its position. You may require breast implant removal or breast implant replacement surgery to correct this condition.

Implant Rupture

If your saline implants get damaged or puncture, it will cause the implant to deflate. The saline solution will exit the implant, but it will not harm your health because it is a fully biocompatible fluid. Silicone implants may also get ruptured in rare cases, but the viscous silicone gel may not move out of the implant shell.

In fact, the silicone implant rupture may be a silent one, and may only get detected during an MRI. In any case, an implant rupture will make it necessary to have your breast implants removed or replaced.

Implant Revision Procedure

You will usually have the choice to opt for breast implant removal without replacement or with implant replacement. If you want to avoid a replacement, you need to combine implant removal surgery with a breast lift to restore a firm and youthful natural breast appearance.

Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV, and nearby areas for safe and proven plastic surgery procedures.

Capsular Contracture

Women may need to undergo explantation or breast implant removal cosmetic surgery for a number of reasons. Implant rupture and capsular contracture could make it a medical necessity to have the implants removed or replaced. Some women may want smaller or larger sized implants due to changed preferences, which will also require them to undergo breast implant replacement.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides cosmetic and reconstructive procedures to patients in Las Vegas, NV, and surrounding communities.

Preparing for the Surgery

Breast implant removal plastic surgery will involve some pre-operative preparation. Your surgeon will perform a careful medical exam before they clear you as a candidate for breast implant removal or replacement. If you smoke, they will require you to quit the habit for at least a few weeks before and after the surgery.

If you are taking certain medications such as NSAIDs, vitamins, or herbal supplements, their schedule may have to be adjusted in consultation with your physician.

Surgical Procedure

In normal circumstances, your breast implant removal or replacement plastic surgery may be performed using general anesthesia. The first preference of the surgeon will be to reopen the same incision through which the original breast augmentation surgery was performed. This way no new scarring will occur during implant removal or replacement.

The surgeon will carefully take out the old or damaged implants and excise the scar tissue, if required. If implant replacement is not required, your surgeon may perform a breast lift at the same time of implant removal to provide a subtle lift and firmness to your natural breast tissue.

If you have planned for implant replacement, a new breast pocket may have to be created surgically to accommodate implants of a different size or shape. Following the surgery, the incisions will be closed with sutures and the surgeon may insert temporary drains to collect excess fluid from the surgical site.

Your breasts will be wrapped in a compression bandage after the surgery, which will be replaced in a few days with a special surgical bra. You will receive aftercare instructions from the surgeon’s team before you return home after the procedure.

Recovery

In the first few days following your breast implant removal surgery, you may experience some soreness, bruising and swelling in the incision areas. Your surgeon will give prescription pain medications to keep you comfortable during this phase. In most cases, you can expect to return to your normal routine or go back to work in about one to two weeks.

Personal Decision

Whether you want to have breast implant removal with or without breast lift or an implant replacement surgery is usually your personal choice. You should carefully evaluate all your options in close consultation with your surgeon, and then make a well-informed decision.

Breast implant removal surgery may not be the best idea if you have had a breast augmentation just a few months ago, and are dissatisfied with the initial aesthetic results. You may need to give yourself six months to a year before you can finally determine your aesthetic preferences.

The City Experience

For a moment, forget the famed casinos of Las Vegas, or spending some serious money in the high-end stores, celebrity chef restaurants, and penthouse suites along the Strip. When you visit Las Vegas, the sound, the lights, the endless and exotic parade of people, all converging to soak up the vibes of this spectacular Sin City, are a feast by itself.

But this desert oasis also has some amazing history and off-the-beaten path experiences to unravel, particularly if you wander off the Strip and explore the Fremont Street Experience in the old downtown.

Weather

Weather is usually not an issue for visitors, particularly when they want to spend most of their time inside casinos. Winter is the time for mild weather (though the nights can get cold) and thinner crowds.

Summer gets hot, with highs of 110 degrees F during the day, but the heat is dry. If you want to participate in the city’s hotel pool scene, you will want to come during the summer. July is the hottest month, with an average high of 106 degrees F. December is the coldest month, with an average high of 58 degrees F.

Transportation

Renting a car is mostly inexpensive. But if you are willing to afford a higher price tag, you could rent Bentleys, Ferraris, and other high-end cars. Valet parking is free in the casinos. The Las Vegas Monorail runs from the MGM Grand to SLS Las Vegas and stops in seven places. The rates for the monorail start at $12 for a day pass.

Popular Attractions for the Rest of the Family

Luxor Hotel & Casino

This 1990s-built pyramid isn’t one of the seven wonders of the world, but it stands out in a town where copycatting New York, Paris, Venice and other iconic destinations certainly is a compliment.

Inside, guests ride inclinators instead of elevators to their rooms, and people-movers ascend and descend at 39-degree angles along the corners of the pyramid, creating a rocking sensation that makes riders feel like they’re on a boat.

The Park

One of the newest additions to Sin City, this $100 million urban oasis between the New York-New York and Park MGM (the soon-to-be-renamed Monte Carlo) hotels stretches from Las Vegas Boulevard back to T-Mobile Arena.

Along the way, brick walkways wind past the Las Vegas outpost of Shake Shack and other open-air restaurants, a walk-through water feature that evokes parting the Red Sea and “Bliss Dance,” a 40-foot-tall statue of a dancing woman.

Fountains of Bellagio

The fountains of Bellagio feature water that dances like ballerinas and cannons that shoot water hundreds of feet in the air. The fountains that span the artificial lake in front of Bellagio Las Vegas have become one of the most iconic Vegas sights.

Initial Consultation

It would be best if you can travel to Las Vegas to meet Dr. Richards and his team prior to your cosmetic surgery. This will provide an opportunity for a comprehensive, in-person consultation that will enable you to make a well-considered decision about your surgery.

However, if you are traveling from afar, it may not be feasible for you to visit separately for a pre-surgery consultation. In this situation, Dr. Richards will have a phone and email based consultation with you. You will have to send your patient forms, medical history, and photographs of your areas of concern to the surgeon’s office.

The patient coordinator at the office will assist you in this process and help you have a successful and productive consultation with Dr. Richards. You should clarify any doubts and concerns you may have at this time, and then schedule your surgery date once you have made up your mind to go ahead with the proposed surgical plan.

Traveling with a Companion

Having a family member or friend assist you in the first 24 hours after your surgery will be ideal.

What is an En Bloc Capsulectomy Breast Implant Removal? | Las VegasNearly all breast implants used in the United States have a warranty of ten years. While some breast implants can last for many more years, some other implants need to be replaced in a much shorter span of time. It is important to remember that implants cannot last forever.

According to statistics collected by the manufacturers of implants, about half of breast implants need to be replaced within seven years. Some of the common reasons for implant problems are rupture, capsular contracture, and infection.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides breast implant removal to patients in Las Vegas, NV and surrounding communities.

Capsular Contracture

Capsular contracture refers to the scarring that takes place around the implant. All implants – textured, smooth, above muscle, below muscle, round shaped develop a capsule. Breast implants are a foreign body, the body tries to separate the implant by creating a capsule around it as a wall from the implant.

The capsule may be soft and flimsy –like an unnoticeable film. Or it may become solid and painful –like a hard shell that might shrink and contracts with the passage of time. When an implant has a painful, hard capsular contracture, it is not risky in itself. However, the discomfort, may force women to wish for the removal of the entire implant along with the capsule.

En Bloc Capsulectomy

An en bloc capsulectomy is a surgical procedure performed to take out the breast implant and the capsule as a single entity. A complete en bloc capsulectomy is a thorough and meticulous cosmetic surgery that takes out every bit of the capsule, together with the piece that may be close to the ribs and the chest wall.

A partial capsulectomy leaves segments of the capsule in the breast pocket. The incision made during an en bloc capsulectomy may be an irritant to the leftover breast tissue, and this will stimulate production of fluid from the body. After an en bloc capsulectomy, it is essential to place drains to make sure the fluid exits from the breast pocket.

If a fresh breast implant is being placed, it is usually put in a fresh space. This means, if the original implant was positioned subpectorally, the fresh implant would be placed prepectorally. On the other hand, if the original implant was positioned prepectorally, the fresh breast implant would be placed sub-pectorally. If the pectoralis muscle has been damaged or divided, it will be essential to repair the pectoralis muscle.

Capsulectomy without Replacement or Implant

The surgeon will have to leave the drains for a longer time to remove the fluid, for patients who go through the implant removal procedure and en bloc capsulectomy but without a replacement of the implant. Patients who are left with excess breast tissue may require a mastopexy or a breast lift plastic surgery to reposition any leftover breast tissue to reconstruct a breast mound.

How should you prepare for surgery?

It’s logical and necessary to stop smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol, a few of weeks before your En Bloc Capsulectomy, because, both of them increase the chances of swelling and bruising. All supplements and medications should be stopped at least two weeks prior to the surgery. On the day of your procedure, make sure you have someone who can drive you home. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV and nearby area for breast implant removal.

Choosing The Best Surgeon to Remove Your Breast Implants | Las VegasBreast implant removal is an important cosmetic procedure, which may or may not be performed along with a breast lift surgery.

To ensure predictable and safe results, patients should choose an experienced and qualified breast removal surgeon. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides breast implant removal to patients in Las Vegas, NV and surrounding locations.

Why Select on a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon?

American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) is the only board which is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. It has strict standards of selection for giving certification. Patients who choose an ABPS board certified cosmetic surgeon can be assured that the surgeon will have at least three to five years of medical training which includes a minimum of 2 years of training entirely in plastic surgery.

Board certified cosmetic surgeons keep themselves updated with the latest techniques and recent innovations. They also pursue continuous training in the field of plastic and cosmetic surgery to deliver safe and effective results in all surgical procedures.

Emphasis on Customization

Make sure to select a surgeon who clearly understands that best outcomes in a procedure like the breast implant removal can only be achieved when the surgeon decides to adopt a customized strategy. The body of each patient is unique.

The surgeon should remember the subtle anatomical differences and take into consideration the cosmetic objectives and the patient’s specific health requirements while deciding a surgical plan for breast implant removal or replacement.

Strike a Balancing between Art and Science

Your surgeon should have the right training and qualifications along with the required skills to create the correct balance between art and science in each plastic surgery they perform. This strategy will help them to deliver implant results that are healthy, sustainable, and more natural looking.

Mommy makeover is a highly customizable plastic surgery procedure, which can be individualized to meet the unique cosmetic needs of a patient.

The procedure is usually undertaken on moms in the age bracket of 20 to 35 years. The common elements of a mommy makeover include breast lift, breast implant surgery, breast reduction, tummy tuck, and liposuction.

It is vital to identify the best cosmetic surgeon for this elaborate procedure to ensure safe and effective outcomes. The surgeon should have the required professional background, training, and experience to perform multiple surgical procedures as part of a mommy makeover in a predictable and successful manner.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards provides mommy makeover to patients in Las Vegas, NV, and surrounding communities.

Personalization

A majority of the plastic surgery procedures in a mommy makeover are customizable. The surgeon will carefully evaluate the unique structure of the patient and their personal cosmetic goals to create an individualized surgical plan. They will focus on developing highly desirable cosmetic results in a holistic and integrative way. Experienced surgeons use common incisions wherever possible during the mommy makeover.

Their goal is to reduce the size and number of incisions, make incisions in discreet locations to reduce any scarring, and reduce the discomfort, downtime, and risks of complications for the patient. At times, they may recommend that the patient add one or more non-surgical cosmetic procedures, which could possibly decrease the invasiveness of the mommy makeover procedure.

Customized Care and Attention

A mommy makeover procedure represents a personal journey for a patient, and she should work with a surgeon who makes her feel at ease and is willing to offer her sufficient time to address her concerns and doubts. She should have access to the surgeon throughout the cosmetic surgery and recovery process.

Personal Rapport and Comfort Level

It is also important for the surgeon to comprehend how the surgeon and their staff make her feel. There is an inherent risk of complications in any surgical procedure, which may cause obstructions in the patient’s path to accomplish her desired mommy makeover outcomes.

She should feel entirely comfortable with her surgeon and their team. Therefore, it is crucial for the patient to identify a plastic surgeon whom she trusts and feels completely comfortable with for her mommy makeover procedure.

The patient should ask herself the following questions:

  • Do I trust this cosmetic surgeon to offer me correct guidance on safe and appropriate procedures?
  • Am I comfortable enough to freely ask this surgeon any questions or express concerns that I may have during the mommy makeover process?

Why select an ABPS board certified surgeon?

The patient should preferably work with a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) for her mommy makeover procedure. This is the only board that the American Board of Medical Specialties recognizes. The board uses a strict selection process to award this prestigious certification.

When working with a board-certified plastics surgeon, the patient is guaranteed that the surgeon has undergone a minimum of two years of exclusive plastic surgery training. ABPS board-certified plastic surgeons usually invest in best medical practices and superior quality standards and follow the updated safety protocols.

Board-certified surgeons remain updated with innovative surgical techniques and technologies to provide their patients with safe and outstanding results. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bryson Richards receives patients from Las Vegas, NV, and nearby areas for mommy makeover.
