Longevity of Results

What Do Results Depend On?
You should know that the longevity of the results will depend on the areas of treatment and custom surgery plan. The surgeon’s plan will mandate the injection of fat into facial units. There is a unique approach to treating every facial area with minor differences in instrument and techniques used.
These are a few general points for areas that are more commonly injected:
Temple, brow, and forehead
The injections are administered as submuscular, intramuscular, and subcutaneous. The areas are typically accessed through lateral brow or hairline. Ridging during injections is massaged out. 8 mL to 15 mL of fat may be required in severely hollow temples.
Glabella/Nose
Deepened radix (camouflaging dorsal hump) and Glabellar vertical rhytids (11 lines) are the most common treatment areas. Contour irregularity of the nose may be addressed as well. The entry to this area can be through the medial eyebrow, forehead, alar base, cheek, upper cutaneous lip, and nasal tip.
Cheek
Placement of fat in the zygomatic, malar, and infraorbital regions above the ptotic cheek can be useful in recreating the appearance of full cheeks. Often two incisions are required, one lateral to the zygomatic arch and another lateral to the mid-nasolabial fold.
Nasolabial fold
The area is accessed through the commissure or the lateral chin. Grafting can be performed superficial (subcutaneous) or deep (periosteal). However, it should remain medial to the nasolabial fold for avoiding trauma to the facial artery and for avoiding deepening of the nasolabial fold.
Chin and mandible
Weak chin, poor jawline, and jowl definition can be addressed by fat grafting in the region. Fat can be placed inferiorly or laterally by making incisions perpendicular to the submental area, mandible, and pre-jowl sulcus.
